Düsseldorf Rhine-Ruhr airport is one of the biggest in Europe. There is a good connection to the main station by city train (S-Bahn line S1 from station "Düsseldorf Flughafen Bahnhof", or line S11 from station "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal S") and from there to the university by underground train or tram.

The international airports of Frankfurt/Main and Amsterdam Schiphol can be reached by train from Düsseldorf in 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 hours, respectively.
