Welcome to CAi
The Center for Advanced Imaging (CAi) is a joint venture of laboratories from the Mathematics/Natural Sciences Faculty of HHU. The aim of CAi is to encourage the development and use of applied optical microscopy in the interdisciplinary environment of Life and Material Sciences. The CAi may also be used by external research groups according to prior agreement.
OME Meeting
Dear OMERO fans and Fiji users at CAi, HHU, and beyond, the software tools and standards behind these essential tools for image data management and analysis—including the Bio-Formats Library—have been developed for over 20 years by the Open Microscopy Environment (OME) Consortium for the international bioimaging community. The CAi team has been actively involved in this effort for many years.
From April 28 to 30, we had the privilege of hosting the 19th OME Community Meeting at the Haus der Universität. With nearly 100 on-site participants and an additional 70 online registrations, it was the largest OME meeting to date. The diverse program ranged from applications of OMERO to current developments surrounding the cloud-compatible image data format OME-Zarr.
The meeting also offered valuable opportunities to discuss the future of collaboration in open science. A highlight was the keynote lecture by Prof. Carole Goble (University of Manchester), a leading expert in open science infrastructures. She emphasized that, alongside technical innovation, shared values and clearly defined roles are essential for building sustainable scientific communities.
We return from the meeting with many new ideas for our work at the CAi — and, above all, with renewed energy from this open, collaborative, and welcoming community.(Photos from the meeting)
